“The Last Post” — A Steve Burton Tale

Steve Burton sat alone, phone in hand.

The screen glowed softly, casting a pale light on his face.

It was the kind of night where silence weighed more than words.

His thumb hovered over the “Post” button.

He had something to say—one last time.

“This is going to be my last post,” he typed.

“If I don’t get a 𝙃𝙞.”

Simple. Almost too simple. But it carried weight.

It wasn’t about vanity. Not tonight.

It was about feeling seen in a world that scrolled past too fast.

The cursor blinked like a waiting heartbeat.

Steve thought of the old days—forums, long threads, real replies.

Now it was just likes. Cold hearts. Emptiness in numbers.

He hit “Post.”

One minute. Nothing.

Two minutes. Still nothing.

“Maybe they’ve all moved on,” he thought.

Then—ding.

A comment. One word.

“𝙃𝙞.”

From an account with no profile picture.

But it was real.

Steve smiled.

He stared at the screen a long time.

Not because of who said it.

But because someone did.

The world hadn’t forgotten him after all.

He didn’t need thousands. Just one.

And tonight, he got it.

The last post didn’t have to be the end.
