A Therapist Steps In Per General Hospital Comings and Goings
Dr. Nichols was introduced on Thursday, September 10. Kearran Giovanni steps into the role, bringing new energy to Port Charles. She plays therapist to Anna Devane, played by Finola Hughes, a woman in crisis. Anna returned from months of treatment in France recently.
That treatment failed to bring real progress for Anna. A vision of Peter August, played by Wes Ramsey, followed her home. It nearly pushed her to harm Britt Westbourne, played by Kelly Thiebaud. Jason Morgan, played by Steve Burton, helped bring her back. Now, with Dr. Kevin Collins away in Ireland, Dr. Nichols steps in to help.
From Llanview To Port Charles
Kearran Giovanni first entered daytime television back in 2009. She played Dr. Vivian Wright on One Life to Live. That role kept her busy on the soap through 2012. She worked closely with Executive Producer Frank Valentini during that run. Valentini now leads General Hospital as its own EP.
On OLTL, Giovanni served as a love interest for Shaun Evans, played by Sean Ringgold. Her character also worked as the baby doctor on the show. She delivered baby Drew Buchanan the second in the finale. That moment closed out the story of the long running soap.
Giovanni also built an impressive career outside of daytime. From 2012 to 2018, she starred on Major Crimes. Detective Amy Sykes was played by Giovanni on TNT. There, she worked alongside GH star Robert Gossett. Gossett currently plays Marshall Ashford on General Hospital.
Giovanni built a resume full of other notable roles. She appeared on Designated Survivor on ABC in 2017. From 2017 to 2019, she starred on Black Lightning. She then joined The Resident as Andrea Braydon. Giovanni also played Kelly James on the CW show Walker.
