ABC Confirm!! GH RE-SIGNS Chris McKenna! Brennan Is NOT Dead & Returns to Port Charles

GH SHOCKER: Chris McKenna Could Return — Is Brennan Really Dead?

Just when General Hospital viewers thought Jack Brennan’s story had reached its brutal and irreversible conclusion, one tantalizing detail has reopened the door to the kind of resurrection Port Charles does best.

Brennan was officially revealed as the body found floating in the Metro Court pool on September 1, bringing Chris McKenna’s run on the ABC soap to a shocking end. McKenna had wrapped filming months earlier, and his departure was subsequently confirmed. TV Insider

But in the world of General Hospital, seeing a body has never necessarily meant the story is over.

And Brennan may have been given the perfect escape hatch.

Brennan’s Burial Has a Fascinating Twist

McKenna recently revealed one detail that immediately caught fans’ attention: he wasn’t actually present when Brennan was buried.

A stunt double was used for those scenes.

McKenna even joked about not knowing exactly what might eventually come out of that grave. Soap Hub

For an ordinary television drama, that might mean nothing. For a soap opera built on presumed deaths, secret identities, intelligence agencies and spectacular returns from the grave, however, it is almost impossible not to imagine the possibilities.

Brennan was WSB.

If anyone could arrange a convincing death, switch a body or disappear without leaving Port Charles knowing the truth, surely a man with Brennan’s connections could do it.

Chris McKenna Would Come Back

There is another reason fans shouldn’t completely close the book on Brennan.

McKenna has made it clear that he enjoyed his time at General Hospital. Discussing the possibility of returning someday, the actor said that, given enough time, he would love to come back — even if producers eventually wanted him to portray somebody else. Soap Hub

That is significant.

His exit was not the result of an actor publicly declaring that he never wanted to set foot in Port Charles again. The door, at least from McKenna’s perspective, remains open.

The bigger question is whether General Hospital will eventually walk through it.

Imagine Brennan Walking Back Into Port Charles
The dramatic possibilities would be enormous.

Imagine Carly coming face-to-face with a man she mourned.

Imagine Anna learning that Brennan had fooled everyone.

And imagine the explanation Brennan would have to give for allowing the people around him to believe that he was dead.

Was his “death” necessary to protect someone?

Was Brennan secretly investigating an enemy too dangerous to confront openly?

Or could the WSB have staged everything?

Such a revelation would instantly transform what appeared to be Brennan’s ending into the beginning of a much larger story.

And General Hospital has certainly provided enough ambiguity for viewers to keep asking questions.

But There’s One Important Reality Check
Despite headlines circulating online claiming that McKenna has already been re-signed, there is currently no credible confirmation from ABC that this has happened.

In fact, McKenna himself poured cold water on the latest comeback chatter.

When a fan recently asked whether rumors about his GH return were true, his response was simply: “news to me.” General Hospital Tea

So Brennan is dead according to the story currently airing, and McKenna remains off the show.

For now.

Because this is Port Charles, where death has always had an asterisk attached to it.

Chris McKenna is willing to return. Brennan’s burial used a stunt double. And the character belonged to one of the most secretive intelligence organizations in the General Hospital universe.

That doesn’t confirm a resurrection.

But it certainly gives GH writers everything they would need to pull off one hell of a comeback.

Jack Brennan may be buried — but fans probably shouldn’t throw away the key to his empty office just yet.
