Young and the Restless: Phyllis Makes Daniel Co-CEO, Tries to Rename Arabesque “SFR” — and Christine Predicts Exactly How It Ends

Young and the Restless: Phyllis Makes Daniel Co-CEO, Tries to Rename Arabesque

The Young and the Restless, Tuesday, October 13, 2026 (CBS). One day after Daniel offered to work with his mother, Phyllis turned it into a title and an announcement to the two people least likely to applaud.

“You said yes. You said yes.”

Phyllis can barely sit still at the Athletic Club. “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this. You said yes. You said yes. And you said you love me, and you said you’d work with me.” Daniel wants to discuss the nature of his position before any champagne. Her answer: “How about the title CEO?” Specifically, co-CEO: “You, me, Lauren. We’re all CEOs.” Daniel asks whether that means he gets a vote on her ideas, and Phyllis swears, “You will not regret this.”

Then Danny and Christine walk in. Phyllis, who now owns the club, tells them lunch is on the house. Christine, confused, asks about the company she thought Phyllis was rebuilding for Cane. “Oh, poor ill-informed Christine,” Phyllis says. “I have the Athletic Club and Arabesque. We’re going to take it to new heights.” And she drops the news Daniel wanted to deliver himself: “I would like to announce my new hire is Daniel Romalotti Jr. He will be my co-CEO.” Daniel: “I really would have loved the chance to try and tell you myself.” Phyllis: “Oops. I just got so excited, I just blurted it out.”

Daniel explains himself to his father

Alone with Danny and Christine, Daniel says nobody bullied him. “It’s my decision.” His reasoning is part strategy, part son: “I realize that I can’t push her away. It only makes things worse. If she thinks that she doesn’t have her kids, she also feels like she’s got nothing to lose. So I’m trying to use this as an opportunity to rebuild our relationship.” He adds that Arabesque is “a blank slate,” a chance to “re-evaluate my choices.” Danny’s warning: “It is literally impossible to rein in Phyllis. And ‘centered’ is not a state of mind that she’s ever used to.” Still, he tells his son, “I think you deserve this.”

Christine’s verdict

Once Daniel leaves, Danny asks his wife how hard it was to bite her tongue. “My jaw hurts a little.” Then she says it: “I’m afraid he is setting himself up for failure, working with Phyllis. She will veer off sooner or later. She sinks her ships. She fails. That’s what she does. But this time, I’m really afraid she’s going to drag Daniel down with her.”

The name on the building

Lauren, back early from Gloria’s cruise (“It was bingo. It was bocce ball. It was trivia. It was scavenger hunts”), hears Phyllis’s next idea: rename the company. Her first idea, “Summers,” is rejected because it reminds Lauren of Newman. Phyllis’s real proposal is “SFR” — Summers, Fenmore and Romalotti. Lauren is flattered, but when Phyllis asks for a vote, she gives one: “I vote no. Because Arabesque is an established entity. People recognize it. It’s formidable. It’s respected, and why on earth would we want to start from scratch?”

Phyllis concedes the name but not the point. The logo goes on the front of their building next week, and she wants one man to see it: “Victor Newman has to see it every single time he steps out of his building, and he has to know that I own it.” Lauren begs her to forget the Newmans. Phyllis: “I’ve worked so hard. I deserve bragging rights. And if I have them, I’m damn well going to use them.” She also admits why Daniel’s yes matters: “He’s hardly spoken to me all year, so I’ll take what I can get,” and she hopes Summer, who still is not talking to her, will come around.

What’s next

Soaps.com’s Wednesday, October 14 spoilers say Adam grills Phyllis about her latest venture, “as if it’s any of his business.”

Your call: Is Christine right that Phyllis sinks every ship, or is Daniel exactly the ballast she needs? And should Lauren have let her put SFR on the building?
