1980-1984
Robert (Tristan Rogers) first came to Port Charles in 1980. The WSB agent was searching for the Ice Princess. A large uncut diamond was hidden inside the statue, which contained the formula for creating carbonic snow. Luke (Anthony Geary) initially believed Robert was the enemy, but he offered to help him against the evil Cassadines after learning the truth.
Robert, Luke, and Laura (Genie Francis) secretly boarded the Cassadine Yacht, “The Titan,” which brought them to the family’s private island. Eventually, Luke confronted Mikkos (John Colicos), and the villain froze to death in his own ice chamber. They returned to Port Charles as heroes.
Robert left the WSB over a disagreement about destroying the ice machine and formula. He and Luke became so close that he was the best man at his wedding to Laura.
In 1982, while searching for the missing Laura, Robert became involved with Jackie Templeton (Demi Moore). Jackie was looking for her sister, also named Laura. Robert consoled a heartbroken Luke when they discovered that Laura had drowned at sea.
Then, along came Holly (Emma Samms), who became involved with Luke. When Luke was presumed dead and Holly was pregnant, Robert stepped up and married her to keep her from being deported. Holly miscarried, but she and Robert fell in love. Luke was, in fact, very much alive, and one of GH’s greatest love triangles was formed. Holly chose Robert, and they became a supercouple of the 80s.
1985-1992
Robert’s secret first wife, Anna (Finola Hughes), stirred things up when she came to Port Charles in 1985. Holly and Robert’s perfect marriage suffered, but they reconciled and decided to move to Australia together. Before he left, Robert discovered he had a daughter with Anna named Robin (Kimberly McCullough). When Robin was kidnapped in the Asian Quarter, Robert stayed with Anna to save her and defeat Wu’s gang. When all was well, he finally left for Australia to be with Holly.
Robert returned to Port Charles in 1987 with the sad news that Holly had died in a plane crash. He found that Anna was involved with former mobster Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan), whom he disapproved of. Robert’s feelings for Anna returned, but she chose to stay with Duke.
After Duke was shot by Julian Jerome (then-Jason Culp) and presumed dead, Robert and Anna fell in love and were married in 1991. Soon after, Anna was kidnapped by Faison (Anders Hove), and Robert ran off to rescue her. They were both presumed dead in an explosion.
2006-2008
It was discovered that Anna was alive in 2001 (on All My Children), but Robert didn’t return until 2006. Robin had a hard time forgiving her father for not letting her know that he was alive.
In 2008, Robert was diagnosed with a brain tumor and colon cancer and fell into a coma. When he woke up, he left for further treatment in Europe.
2012-2016
Anna brought Robert back to Port Charles in 2012 because Robin was presumed dead in an explosion. Robert was devastated and attempted suicide, but Luke saved him by telling him that Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean) was his son with Holly. Ethan needed help, and this gave Robert the will to live. He and Holly leave town to find their son (who was actually Luke’s son).
Robert came back to town because Anna was falling in love with a Duke look-alike who was really Faison in disguise. He helped Anna find the real Duke, who was being held prisoner in Switzerland. Then Robert went after Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and was shocked to find Robin, who was also alive but being held prisoner. Dr. Obrecht injected him with a lethal dose of propofol, and he once again fell into a coma.
Anna was hesitant when Robert woke up and gave her the news about their daughter. She went to Faison, who told her the truth; then she and Robert went to Cassadine Island to rescue their daughter. They were all reunited.
Robert once again left Port Charles to help Holly and Ethan, but returned in 2015 when Robin was held by Jerry Jax (Sebastian Roché). Robin faked her death to trick Jerry and was found by her parents.
Robert was present at Robin and Patrick’s second wedding in 2016.
2018-2025
In 2018, Robert appeared in Switzerland to help Anna track down her son, Henrik. Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) drugged and imprisoned the WSB agent.
When Anna was abducted to get to her then-boyfriend, Finn (Michael Easton), Robert helped them both escape. Robert then got in the way when Finn was preparing to propose to his ex. He also helped his nemesis Sonny (Maurice Benard) rescue Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) in Turkey. Then Robert was forced to resign from the WSB. The ex-spy became the Port Charles District Attorney.
The WSB reported that Holly was killed, but Robert refused to believe it. He attended her memorial service, but soon after, he received a phone call from a voice sounding like Holly, begging for help.
Robert teamed up with Anna to stop Peter/Henrik (Wes Ramsey), and they discovered that Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) was still alive. Holly was also still alive, but claimed to have lost her memories. She had really been forced to work with Victor, who had been holding Ethan hostage. Robert and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) staged an explosion so that Holly could be whisked away for treatment, but she went off to find her son.
While Holly was gone, Robert began dating Diane Miller. Things were going well until, once again, Holly resurfaced. There was another surprise: Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) revealed that she was Holly’s daughter, and Holly then revealed that Robert was her father. He bonded with his new daughter, broke up with Diane, and then he and Holly rode off into the sunset together.
The last time Robert appeared on screen was in July 2025, when Jason (Steve Burton) brought Sasha and her newborn daughter, Daisy, to his and Holly’s home in France.
