Young and the Restless: “Convince Us You Won’t Tank This Relationship, Too” — Billy’s Full On-Camera Answer to Sally’s Family, Word for Word

Young and the Restless:

The Young and the Restless, Thursday, October 15, 2026 (CBS). Sally’s grandmother and great-aunt could not make it to Genoa City, so they sent their questions with Coco — and asked for Billy’s answers on video. What followed was the most honest thing Billy Abbott has said about himself in years.

How the questions arrived

Coco’s phone buzzed mid-dinner: “That’s Grams’ text.” Sally explained the setup to the table: “Because they’re not here right now and they can’t corner Billy with a million questions, they put Coco up to it … They want us to video your responses and send them back.” Billy’s reaction: “Video, on camera. How’s my hair, darling?” Sally tried to spare him — “You look so handsome, but you are not doing it” — and Billy insisted: “It’s okay. Give it to me. I can handle it.” Sally: “You’re very sweet.” Jack: “Also very masochistic.”

Sally introduced the room to the camera — “Here’s the Abbott house: Billy’s sisters Ashley, Traci, brother Jack, sister-in-law Diane, nephew Kyle, this lovely beautiful woman here, Coco, and the man of the hour” — and read the first question without paraphrasing, because Billy would not let her soften it.

The question

“Billy, this isn’t your first rodeo. Convince us you won’t tank this relationship, too.”

Billy’s first words: “Jeez. Damn Grams.” Jack, delighted: “The question is, dear uncle, what did Sally’s family read about you? How bad was it?”

The answer, in full

“Look, the truth is, yes, I have made plenty of mistakes, which is why I am grateful and thrilled that you’re willing to hear me out here. Historically, you could say that I am a screw-up. And by you, I mean my siblings here, because they’ve told me so many times over. And I could blame some of my past on being at the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong person, maybe the wrong extended family. But the truth is, I have been the author of my own misery. No one to blame but myself.”

“But I promise you that I will never willingly hurt Sally. She has a heart of gold. She is a marvel. But you already know that, because she is the woman she is partly because of you. She is generous, loving, kind, funny, brilliant and incredibly gorgeous. And she doesn’t know the meaning of defeat. And I will not hold her back. I can’t wait to watch her fly. And I know without a shadow of a doubt she’s going to be an incredible mother. And, not for nothing, she loves me, so I must be doing something right.”

Sally, through tears: “You are a romantic through and through.”

The second question — and why Sally stopped reading

Billy wanted more: “What’s next? Hit me with the next one. I’m ready.” Sally read it, then wished she hadn’t. Great Aunt Sally’s follow-up pointed out that the baby came before the vows and asked how the two of them plan to keep things spicy once they are “a couple of old marrieds.” Sally: “Okay, that’s enough of that.” Billy, reaching for the phone: “Great Aunt Sally wants spicy, I’ll give her spicy.” Sally: “No. No. Please. Please don’t.” Jack: “Glad everything’s back to normal.”

What the Abbotts said back

Jack followed with a toast that turned the night: “I had a private conversation with Billy earlier. I’d like to have a family conversation with you now. Sally, you are now part of this family. That goes for you too, Coco. You have made my brother the happiest of men, and for that, everyone in this room is immensely grateful. This house, the Abbott house, is yours. Now you walk in that door, you will be greeted with respect, support and love. And that’s the deal.” Sally: “I’m sorry. That’s just really new for us.”

Not every Abbott agreed — Ashley’s doubts, spoken to Jack at the end of the hour, are a story of their own.
