Young and the Restless: Adam Tells Sally Billy Should Never Have Left Her — and Then Lies to Chelsea About Where He Was

Recap of the CBS episode that aired Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Chancellor Park gave Y&R its most loaded scene of the week. Sally took baby Ruby out for her first stroll, Adam walked up behind the stroller, and within fifteen minutes the man who delivered that baby was telling her exactly what he thinks of her husband being in London. Here is what was actually said, in order, and what Adam told Chelsea afterward.

“Little Ruby here can reach for the stars”

Sally was showing Ruby the oak trees and the swings (“Those were mommy’s favorite”) when Adam appeared: “Why stop at the clouds? Little Ruby here can reach for the stars.” He admitted he was “feeling a little protective” and asked whether it was safe to have Ruby out so soon; Sally said the pediatrician told her to take advantage of the mild weather. Then she pushed: “How are you, Adam?… I can imagine it was bittersweet.” Adam tried to wave it off, and Sally would not let him: “Adam, I can still tell when you’re bottling something up.” He finally gave in: “Yeah, I mean, it was bittersweet… I felt some things that I haven’t felt in a while. Some emotions that I thought I had dealt with. Hit me harder than I thought it would.”

The Ava moment

Sally told him why she asked: “Ruby’s birth brought up the same feelings for me,” and that she hoped a second chance to be a mother to a little girl “was a way to heal the heartbreak over Ava.” Then, after making him promise not to laugh: “I really think Ava was there helping us. Looking out for her parents from heaven.” Adam’s answer: “It’s a beautiful way to look at it. And if any child would be capable of doing something that powerful and other-worldly, it would be ours.” Both of them were in tears. The show cut to Adam alone afterward, replaying the hospital scene where he told Sally, “I can only save one life for sure. It had to be yours,” and Sally answered, “Yes, but Ava deserved to live, too.” That is the back-story every Y&R fan knows: in 2023 Adam had to choose between Sally and their unborn daughter, and the loss of Ava ended them.

Then Adam turned on Billy

The warmth lasted until Sally mentioned that Billy is in London with Jill after her emergency heart surgery. Adam: “He left you and Ruby?… He has a new wife and baby. I mean, you two should be his priority.” Sally said she was the one who insisted Billy go; Adam did not care: “I don’t care if you strapped him into his seat on the jet. He shouldn’t have left you alone with a newborn baby.” Sally listed Coco, Grams, Audra and the whole Abbott family. Adam: “It’s not the same.” When she said Billy was making peace with his mother, Adam snapped: “Peace? Over a feud that he could have settled with Jill long before she ended up having that baby.” Sally shut it down: “Adam, I really don’t want to sit here and listen to you bad mouth Billy.” His last word on it: “If it were me, I never would have left.” Later, holding Ruby, Sally told her daughter that Adam “deep down has a good heart,” someone they will always be grateful to.

What Adam told Chelsea

Across town Chelsea spent the whole episode looking for him. She told Nick that Adam had not been home or at the office and had not texted, insisting, “I’m not worried… I’m just a little baffled.” Nick warned her: “Everybody knows how good Adam is at hiding his true feelings.” Chelsea’s reply: “He doesn’t hide his feelings from me, ever.” When Chelsea finally found Adam at the coffee house, she asked where he had been. His answer: “I had a meeting earlier this morning that ended up getting canceled anyway.” No mention of Sally, Ruby or the park. Chelsea went to get lattes; Adam stayed behind with his thoughts.

Billy’s side of it

In London, Billy told Victoria that leaving Sally and Ruby “was very difficult” and that “no one can replace me in their lives.” On the phone with Sally later he said, “I’m sorry that I’m not there. This is killing me that you’re there doing this all alone.” Sally answered, “I’m far from alone, Billy.” He asked her to put the phone on speaker so Ruby could hear him, told her, “Don’t grow up so fast. I don’t want to miss a single moment,” and sang her “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”

What’s next

Soaps.com’s “next on” line for Wednesday says Victor gives Phyllis an ultimatum.

So who is right about Billy — Adam, who says he never would have left a newborn, or Sally, who sent her husband to his mother’s bedside? And should Chelsea be worried that Adam called a morning in the park with Sally and Ruby a “canceled meeting”?
