Although Ethan was trying to protect Phoebe Chase (Luna and Lucia Creighton) by posing as her biological father, he’s created a messy situation in the process.

Thanks to Ethan faking the paternity test and signing away parental rights, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) assumed they were in the clear.
The adoption was finalized due to Ethan’s sneaky actions.
Of course, Ethan wasn’t the real baby daddy, so his deception has only delayed the inevitable now that bio dad Jude (Wil Traval) is ready to go after Phoebe.
Since we’re entering the next phase of this storyline, it feels like something Ethan should perhaps return for.
Ethan Lovett Officially Exits ‘General Hospital’ — Could He Return?
It’d be nice to hear Ethan’s perspective, especially since Brook Lynn, Chase and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Ellot) are going to be confused about Jude’s arrival.
Nathan Dean left the show before his previous stint could be concluded, so Christian Howard took over as Nathan and finished his run.
Howard or another recast could step into the role of Ethan once again if need be.
That said, most fans still think of Dean when they think of Ethan, so it’s possible we’ll see him appear again briefly.
Regardless, Ethan would be useful now that Phoebe’s paternity madness is going to be driving so much GH drama.
Perhaps Ethan could reenter the picture and be forced to explain himself at some point.
At some point this fall, Tracy will leave Port Charles to go find and assist a relative in crisis.

Since Tracy was Ethan’s stepmother through her marriage to Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), he still counts as a family member.
What if Tracy wants to pry some answers out of Ethan regarding this paternity nightmare?
Tracy may hope to learn more Jude news and try to score some dirt that can be used in the inevitable custody feud, so she may think Ethan can help with that.
Ethan is on the run because of this Jude mess, so Tracy may think she can help protect him, too.
That would explain Tracy’s trip and the family crisis that she’s about to go handle.
Whatever the case, General Hospital spoilers say Ethan Lovett will play a role in the story whether he’s on-screen or off, so stay tuned.
