General Hospital: Hudson West Says Jake’s Exit Wasn’t His Choice — “They Wrote Me Out”

General Hospital: Hudson West Says Jake's Exit Wasn't His Choice —

Cast news · Monday, October 12, 2026

For more than two years, a lot of General Hospital fans have assumed Jake Webber left Port Charles because the young actor playing him wanted out. This weekend Hudson West, who played Elizabeth and Jason’s son, said the opposite — in his own words.

What Hudson West said

According to Soap Central (Oct. 11, 2026), West answered a fan on X, user “mike savelli,” with this: “I didn’t want to go. They wrote me out.”

When another fan, Diane Spinelli, wrote that she thought he “had asked to leave” — and that fans post every day wanting Jake back — West clarified: “Nope. I didn’t want off. It was their idea. I seriously don’t understand why.”

Soap Central reports no comment from ABC or the show about the decision, and no plans for Jake to return.

Why fans were talking about him this week

West popped up on daytime TV again last week — on The Price Is Right. Entertainment Now reports that on the October 6 episode he played “Any Number” with host Drew Carey, won a KIA K4 LXS, and then lost the Showcase Showdown spin. One fan on Facebook asked: “Is he no longer acting?? Elizabeth needs her kids back.” Those congratulations are what led to his replies about GH.

How Jake left Port Charles

Jake’s exit came in July 2024. Per Soaps.com, Jake accepted Jason’s help and let his biological father pay for art school in Spain. In the July 25, 2024 episode, Jake tracked Jason down at the bus station after overhearing a departure announcement on their call — “You’d make a good detective,” Jason told him. Jake asked, “Can you at least tell me how long you’ll be gone?” Jason couldn’t say: “I wish I could stay and be the father that you deserve, but I can’t. And that’s on me.”

Soaps.com noted in March 2026 that it had been “almost two years” since viewers last saw West as Jake. He turned 18 on March 3, 2026, and has since starred as Wyatt in the thriller The Arborist.

Elizabeth’s empty nest

Jake isn’t the only one of Elizabeth’s sons off the canvas. Soap Central notes that Cameron (William Lipton) is at Stanford and last visited in December 2024, and Aiden (Colin Cassidy) left town in 2025 with Lucky to travel the world. That leaves Elizabeth without any of her three boys in Port Charles — and with Jason back in town, a lot of viewers think Jake’s story isn’t finished.

What we don’t know

West did not say why he was written out, and the show has not commented. Nothing has been announced about a return or a recast. Anything beyond his own words is speculation.
