The Young and the Restless, Wednesday, October 14, 2026 (CBS). The drug dealer everyone assumed Nick had killed turned up alive on Wednesday. That was the good news. Everything the man told the police was the bad news.
Joe is alive — and talking
Adam pulled Nick away from Phyllis at Society with a face that said this was not a social call. “The police finally found Joe, your old drug dealer.” Nick: “Alive?” Adam nodded, and Nick exhaled: “Good. Now everyone can stop assuming that I killed this guy.”
“It’s not good, Nick,” Adam said. “When the police picked him up, apparently he had a lot to say. And most of it was about you.” Joe claims Nick beat him badly and left him in an alley, and he has filed a report. The upshot: “Burrow wants you to come in for questioning.” Detective Burrow is the same cop who has been chasing Matt Clark’s fingerprints around the crashed car all week.
Nick did not deny the fight. “I never denied fighting with the guy. If I see the dirtbag’s face, it’s going to happen again.” He guessed, correctly, that this “fine, upstanding citizen of Genoa City” is now claiming he never sold drugs at all.
What Nick says he did with the drugs
Then Nick told Adam the part he had been keeping to himself. What Joe is really angry about, he said, is “the fact that I took all his drugs.” Adam’s eyebrows went up. Nick: “Yeah, after I beat him up, I took his drugs and I flushed them down the toilet.”
Adam’s reply was careful, and it landed: “Nick, I want to believe you.” Nick heard the gap in that sentence. “You think I used them myself?” A beat later Adam committed: “If you say you didn’t use the drugs, then I believe you.” Nick’s explanation was that he took them to get them off the street, so no one else would go through what he went through, and that it was something, even if it does not change the bigger picture: “there’s other drug dealers out there, other drugs. But it’s something, and this bastard was going to pay a price.”
The brothers noticed what has happened to them. “Our roles seem to have reversed,” Nick said. “You are now the cool, calm voice of reason, and I am the loose cannon.” Adam: “I’m always going to be in your corner, Nick. You can count on that forever.” Nick asked him to pass a message to Burrow — that he intends to “fully cooperate with his investigation” — then left to check on Sharon, which is where the night went sideways.
What Adam told Victor afterward
At the ranch, Victor wanted the report. Adam gave it straight: Nick sounded relieved the dealer was alive and thinks the whole thing will go away, the dealer has filed charges, and Nick claims he flushed the drugs. “You believe him?” Victor asked. “I do,” Adam said. “I think Nick wanted to prove to himself that he could have those drugs in his pocket and not be tempted to use them.” Victor pressed: “Did he tell you he wasn’t tempted?” Adam could only say he was confident Nick did not use.
Then Adam raised the real worry: “Now that the dealer’s off the street, Nick seems to be turning his attention back to Matt, which is never a good thing.” Victor, who already told Nick on Tuesday that he is holding him accountable, made it clear his son’s sobriety is the only thing on his mind right now.
How Nick got here
This is the fallout from the fentanyl storyline that began when Matt Clark got Nick hooked earlier this year, per Soaps.com’s Matt Clark timeline. Joe was the dealer Nick went back to; the alley beating and the stolen drugs happened the week of October 6, and the assumption that Nick had done something worse has hung over the ranch ever since.
What’s next
Entertainment Now’s spoilers for Thursday say Victor stays one step ahead of Victoria, and Sally begins her introduction into the Abbott family. Nick’s trip to the police station has not been given a date yet.
Your call: Do you believe Nick flushed every pill — or did Adam’s “I want to believe you” say what the rest of the family is thinking?
