Recap of The Bold and the Beautiful, Thursday, October 15, 2026 (CBS).
Finn is on his way home. Steffy spent Thursday’s episode in Carter’s office deciding what she will say when he walks in — and the scene ended with her saying the word out loud: lie. Here is everything that was said, including the slip Steffy made and the name Carter is really afraid of.
“It’s not good for the baby”
It started as business. Carter and Steffy went over an email from accounting — “Not the update I was hoping for” — and the fallout from Zende’s exit. “I can’t believe Zende decided to join them. That’s insane,” Steffy said. “To lose him now, we have to stop the bleeding and fortify Forrester.” Carter cut her off: “You’re under a lot of stress, Steffy, and it’s not good for the baby.”
Steffy’s answer gave the game away in one sentence: “Of course I’m stressed. I’m pregnant and my husband doesn’t have a clue. So respectfully, Carter, I have every right to be stressed out of my mind.” Carter offered to help her “explain this to Finn” and even to rehearse “a few scenarios.” She refused: “I’ll be talking to him alone… He’s coming home today. The conference is over.”
What she wishes she could say
Then the part Finn must never hear. “I just wish I could tell Finn the truth. How you and I turned to each other on drunk and heartbroken nights.” Carter said her name as a warning. “I know. I know I can’t,” Steffy said. “Not now, especially — we set this huge lie in motion.”
The phone call
Finn’s name lit up her phone. Carter told her to let it go to voicemail — “You’re in no condition to talk to him right now” — and Steffy answered anyway: “I can do this. I have to.” Finn was “about to board my connecting flight,” already back in the States, and had called “to get a little sneak peek. I can’t wait to come home.” He told her, “Steffy, I have missed you so much. You and the kids,” and promised that “in just a few hours, things will be back to normal.” They traded “I love you,” and Steffy added two words she clearly needed him to remember: “Never question that.” Finn: “Never.”
She hung up and turned to Carter. “Oh my God. How am I supposed to do this, Carter? How am I supposed to lie to my husband and tell him that I am your surrogate while your baby is growing inside of me?”
The name Carter is afraid of
Steffy reminded Carter what Finn said before he left: “He said as kind as it was for me to offer being your surrogate, that I couldn’t do it. It was a huge commitment and that you and Daphne would have to find someone more appropriate.” Carter’s position has not moved an inch: “You can’t tell Finn what happened. No one can know.” And he said who he is really thinking about — not Finn, not Daphne, but Steffy’s father. “If Finn and your father knew — I couldn’t look at your father in the face… right after Ridge found out.” Steffy pushed back: “It was consensual, Carter. You know that.” Carter: “All the more reason to turn this mistake into a beautiful gift.”
The slip
Steffy would not call it a mistake. “This child wasn’t conceived out of something ugly. There were two people who were hot in the eye of the storm and we took solace and comfort in each other.” And then: “Look at our babies.” She caught herself immediately — “Yours and Daphne’s baby comes from two people who were there for each other” — but the first version is the one that was said. Carter promised, “This process won’t be easy, but I’m here for you. We’re in this together,” and asked her not to “lose sight of this blessing you’re giving Daphne.” Steffy’s last words of the episode: “To give you this child for you and Daphne to raise, I have to look my husband in the eyes and I have to lie to him. My loving, beautiful, devoted husband.”
How they got here
For anyone catching up: Steffy and Carter slept together in the Forrester office in mid-August, on the night Sheila turned up on Finn’s flight and Daphne had just walked out on Carter (Soaps.com, Aug 14 and 18 recaps). Finn came home asking for “a fresh start, with complete honesty” (Soaps.com, Aug 28). Steffy’s home test came back positive in September (Soap Opera Digest), she offered to carry Carter and Daphne’s baby, and Finn rejected the idea outright before leaving for his conference (Soaps.com, Sept 23). Carter announced “Steffy is our surrogate” to Daphne on Oct 2, and Daphne forgave the secrecy on Oct 5 (Soaps.com). Daphne has never been told Finn said no.
What’s next
Soaps.com’s spoiler for Friday, October 16: Steffy debates telling Finn the truth. Nothing reliable says Finn learns it this week.
