Bold and the Beautiful: Every Promise Eric Made Zende on Monday, Word for Word — and the Three Words He Said to Brooke in the Bonus Scene

An explainer for The Bold and the Beautiful viewers after the episodes of Monday, October 12 to Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Zende is a Logan designer now, and the man who talked him out of it last Monday is the one fans are arguing about. Hope said it on Tuesday: “They’ve made promises to him before. They never follow through.” Katie went further: “They’ve made him a bunch of promises, and in my experience, those aren’t worth very much.” So what exactly did Eric promise? Here it is, line by line — and the bonus-scene line that has fans asking whether he ever meant it.

Monday, October 12 — the promises

Three days after Zende gave notice and Eric begged, “Please, please don’t leave us,” Eric asked to see him alone, “without Ridge.” First the heart: “If you leave this company, it’s going to break my heart. You can’t leave. I need you. I need you to take this company into the future.”

Then the specifics. Promise one: “I’ll make certain that your ideas are listened to and that what you want to do is implemented. I promise I’ll do all of that.” Zende asked the only question that mattered: “What about R.J.?” Promise two: “I’ll talk to him. I’ll talk to Ridge. I’ll make it very clear that you’re going to be the lead designer of the new line.” Promise three: “I’ll do anything I have to do to make sure that you stay. I’ll do anything.”

Zende’s answer: “I’ll stay.” He then called Logan on speaker: “I’m sticking with my family. Granddad has promised to back me fully… This time’s going to be different, Hope. Granddad has my back.” Eric told Ridge the same thing in his own words: “I reassured him that from this moment on his opinions will matter. The decisions he makes will be adhered to — no more lip service from me or from you.” Katie, across town: “I’m still skeptical… something tells me he’s going to continue to be unfairly overshadowed by R.J.” By the end of the episode, Ridge had fired Dylan.

Tuesday, October 13 — the promises last one day

Zende drew his line: “If Forrester Creations is going to create a work environment conducive to my staying, Dylan will be a part of it.” Eric and Ridge held firm. Zende, to Ridge: “What did you think was going to happen? Minutes after you promised me all the support I could ever ask for, you shove me down and you side with these two.” And: “This is R.J. and Electra’s domain. I’m never going to get a fair shot here. It doesn’t matter that my last name is Forrester… I’m out.” On Wednesday he joined Team Logan, and Brooke stormed into Katie’s office: “Now you’ve taken Zende? How could you?!”

The bonus scene — three words

In a CBS bonus scene shared on October 14 and written up by Soaps.com on October 15, Eric recaps for Brooke how he first talked Zende out of leaving — by promising him full autonomy — and adds: “…and he bought that.”

Soaps.com reads it as Eric admitting he was selling Zende a line he never meant to honour; one viewer quoted there wrote that “if you listen to Eric, he made a promise he never fully intended to keep.” Others hear “bought that” as nothing more than “he believed me.” The scene has not aired inside an episode, so treat it as context, not canon — but it is Eric’s own wording.

What’s next

Per Soaps.com’s weekly preview, Finn comes home early on Friday and the Steffy–Carter secret takes over, so the Zende fallout moves to next week. On Thursday, Steffy and Carter were already counting the cost: “We’re still dealing with the blowback from Logan’s assault.”

Your turn: Did Eric mean a word of “I’ll do anything” — or was it just the fastest way to keep Zende in the building for one more day?
