An explainer for The Bold and the Beautiful viewers after the episode of Friday, October 16, 2026 (CBS).
On Friday, Brooke tried family. “Think about Mom. Think about Stormy, our brother,” she told Katie at Logan. Katie cut her off: “I am so done with you using our dead mother and our dead brother to try and shame me.” Then she said the line that split the comments: “I know exactly how Storm would feel about me, the woman I’ve become, everything I’m doing. He would be proud. And I know that with every piece of my heart.” Brooke’s answer: “I would love to be proud of you, Katie, but I can’t.”
If you started watching in the last few years, you may be asking who Storm is and why both sisters keep invoking him. Here is the record, with dates.
1. The big brother who raised the Logan girls
Stephen “Storm” Logan Jr. was the oldest child of Stephen Logan and Beth Henderson — older brother of Brooke, Donna and Katie. Per Soap Central’s character history, after their father walked out he helped raise his three sisters; his nickname came from his temper. He became a lawyer and worked for Forrester Creations. He was first played by Ethan Wayne (1987–89, with guest returns through 2003) and Brian Patrick Clarke (1990–91).
2. 2006–2007: William deVry, Taylor and the Stephanie shooting
William deVry took the role in October 2006, when Storm came back to Los Angeles to represent Taylor after she hit Darla with her car. In 2007 he shot Stephanie Forrester in retaliation for her part in Brooke’s rape by Andy Johnson — and let his father take the blame. Stephen tried to confess to protect him; in the end Stephanie did not press charges and both men went free.
3. 2008: the gun, Ashley and the shot that hit Katie
Brooke set Storm up with Ashley Abbott. Ridge, who had learned Storm shot his mother, warned Ashley he could be dangerous. When Storm showed Ashley his gun to explain himself, Katie walked in, thought he was about to hurt her, and tried to grab it. The gun went off and Katie was shot in the heart. Soap Central dates the story to spring 2008.
4. The heart
Katie needed a transplant and no donor was found. Facing jail for two shootings, Storm left Katie a note and took his own life so that his heart could go to his sister. Soap Central lists his death as April 28, 2008; Soaps.com’s own look back calls it one of the show’s most devastating exits. deVry said at the time he was flattered that Brad Bell trusted him with “such heavy material.” That is the heart Katie meant on Friday when she said “every piece of my heart” — and the heart Bill was thinking of on Thursday when Wyatt asked whether Katie’s health was the problem (“No, it’s not her heart,” Bill said).
5. He kept coming back — to Katie
Storm appeared to Katie in visions in 2008, urging her to live when she could not accept what he had done, and again in September 2012, when she nearly died giving birth to Will. In 2019 a DNA test named him the likely father of Flo Fulton (Shauna’s daughter) — Soaps.com reported the match at 52 percent — so Shauna, now working at Logan with Katie, is tied to Storm too.
So who is right?
Katie says the brother who gave her his heart would be proud of the woman who built Logan. Brooke says he would be sick at the sisters tearing each other apart — and on Friday she reached for a hug and got “Time for you to go, Brooke.” Soaps.com’s spoilers say that on Monday, October 19, Brooke feels more disconnected from Katie than ever; on Tuesday Katie tells Wyatt she intends to destroy Forrester Creations, not just win the fashion wars; and on Thursday, October 22, Donna — per Soap Hub’s Comings & Goings, back on screen this week — hopes her sisters will end their feud.
Your call: Storm died so Katie could live. Would he be proud of Logan — or would he be the first to tell the sisters to stop? Tell us below.
