GH: Joe Opens the Brennan Case — and the First Name He Says Is

General Hospital recap, Tuesday, October 27, 2026

Ava Jerome spent Tuesday’s episode trying to make one martini with Jack Brennan sound like nothing. By the end of the hour, two separate investigations had her name on them.

“Absolutely nothing. Okay, fine. I did.”

Ava tracked Lucas down at General Hospital with what she called a small favor: put in a good word with his roommate, Detective Joe Fitzpatrick. When Lucas asked what she had to do with Brennan, Ava answered, “Absolutely nothing” — and then, in the same breath, “Okay, fine. I did. I met the man for a drink.” She later complained it was “a martini that I had to pay for.”

Her reason for being nervous was Nina. Ava told Lucas her dear friend “was scapegoated” and asked the question that hangs over the whole story: what if she’s next?

The plea backfires

Lucas did talk to Joe. It didn’t help. Joe’s verdict on Ava suddenly asking for a good word: “That is a major red flag.”

Meanwhile WSB agent Baines warned Dante that the PCPD should stay out of the Brennan matter, saying it “would be detrimental” to him and the department. Dante opened a case anyway and made Joe the investigating officer. His question — “What do you got so far?” — got a two-word answer from Joe: “Ava Jerome.”

The WSB finds her too

Baines then walked up to Ava at the hospital: “Witnesses spotted you having a conversation with Chief Brennan” on the last evening he was seen in Port Charles. Afterwards Ava admitted to Portia, “I had a drink with the wrong man at the worst possible time.”

Portia’s answer was a warning, not comfort: “Watch your back, Ava. Drew Kane is and always has been only out for himself.”

What Ava told Drew on Friday

Tuesday’s denial lands differently after Friday’s (10/23) scene between Ava and Drew. There, Ava worried that the waiter “maybe also saw me slip that sleeping pill into his drink, the one you insisted I give him.” Drew told her he had disabled the security cameras at the Metro Court. Ava wanted to move Brennan’s body; Drew refused: “Just leave Brennan where he is.” And about Nina, who is behind bars, Drew said, “She was the perfect fall guy,” while Ava admitted her “dearest friend is doing time for something I had a hand in.”

So the woman telling Lucas she had “absolutely nothing” to do with Brennan is the same woman who, on Friday, talked about the sleeping pill and the body.

Who is looking now

  • Joe Fitzpatrick (PCPD) — investigating officer on Dante’s new case; his first name: Ava.
  • Agent Baines (WSB) — has witnesses placing Ava with Brennan on his last night.
  • Dante — opened the case despite the WSB’s warning.
  • Portia — now openly warning Ava about Drew.

What’s next

Fall spoilers from Soap Central have teased Joe questioning Ava about Brennan. Whether she holds the line Drew drew — “leave Brennan where he is” — or decides she won’t be the next Nina is the question the show hasn’t answered yet.
